Moving In and Moving On

St. Lawrence resumes a two-semester calendar with updated COVID-19 protocols and full in-person instruction

As vaccination numbers continue to climb and local, state, and national regulations begin to adjust, St. Lawrence’s COVID Response Team continues to meet regularly to plan and make appropriate adjustments for the arrival of students for fall 2021.

After maximizing on-campus occupancy through an adjusted three-semester 2020-2021 academic calendar, St. Lawrence will return to a two-semester calendar in which students will study on campus both semesters. It is anticipated that all classes and labs will be fully offered in person, and students can expect a full slate of campus events, social activities, and athletic competitions to take place, as they would during any given academic year, with possible modifications based on state and local guidance.

Proof of a COVID-19 vaccination will be required for students in residence at St. Lawrence for the 2021-2022 academic year, in accordance with the American College Health Association guidance. As with all vaccine requirements, students may request an exemption from the vaccination requirement for medical or religious reasons.

Student, faculty, staff, and visitor’s safety remains the University’s top priority and as conditions improve and risks continue to be minimized, St. Lawrence students will experience a more typical campus calendar and environment.

Campus employees and offices have been phased back in with 50 percent occupancy in June, and 75 percent by July. Full occupancy of faculty and staff will be determined by state and local guidance; however, it is anticipated that employees will be at full capacity by August 2.

Situational mask wearing and surveillance testing may still be required during the fall semester in order to ensure that the community follows effective mitigation strategies as the vaccination rollout continues. The University will continue to monitor any changes in local and state health precautions, and St. Lawrence hopes to capitalize on the flexibility, innovation, and understanding of each and every Laurentian to position students for a successful 2021-2022 academic year.
